I'm pretty sure that the creators of Pokemon have a slightly better idea of how a Pokemon should look like than anybody else.
The priority of Pokemon is their usage in the normal game, not in a competitive setting. Also, tiers are a thing, you know?

Well, Kangaskhan is hatched with a baby already in it's pouch and Exeggcute is 6 eggs from 1. Breeding doesn't make much sense in the games.
