to vote red "or else, you know, wont be able to get those raises/extra days/sick pay/etc", you have people who will blur the numbers and/or deliberately just lie about who won what, its all just another Tuesday for texas republicans, they know the system is rigged in their favor and they act like it, they dont give one fuck about anything, so long as they appease the actual people who are keeping them propped up (oil/gas/old money) (2/2)
theres blatent cheating going on and no one cares, usually cause no one cares about politics, theres definitely a deep seeded "your blood is republican red" down here that causes entire families to vote red (especially when forced to by an elder patriarch of the family or your cut off/out of the will), so you got a lot of pockets of 10s or so people voting red thst would normally never vote anyway, you also have businesses pressuring employees (1/?)

any form of "official venue" for resistance is designed to do nothing and/or take forever, thr system is rigged, we know it, and we know we can do nothing, so yes, we are trapped in a car speeding down the road with the driver wearing a full protective impact suit, while our seat belts are made of string. 3/3

its more of theres nothing we can do beyond minor things that ultimately do nothing, we're watching and thinking just like everyone else with common sense.its like that analogy that gets posted every so often, we're just kids in the car while the parents are drunk and fighting driving at high speed, dafuq we suppose to do? we can complain, we'll get beat, we can try to talk, we'll get punished. they basically had their space invaded by people who had ridiculed them, then insisted they should let them be there, this is where the gatekeeping arose, why are you here if you arent a fan of XYZ? as nerd culture grew more acceptable, money can be made, and those who built their kingdom, were basically told to gtfo, so yes, they were angry and upset about it, but the popular view was "let people enjoy this stuff, fuck off" and well, ultimately they lost
its not, im sure I'll get down voted, but it was just posers coming to cons for attention, in an era where cons were one of the only other places nerds had to convene, these people were ridiculed their entire life and they still came to cons to meet like minded people.then the posers showed up, as nerd culture was growing in popularity, and an over proportionate amount of them were women, hence the term, fake gamer girl.
