You're actually limited by the speed of the PS2 itself, you'll only see marginal performance improvement with SD over a standard modern sata hdd, and even an ssd. It's so old that the interface of the expansion port itself is the bottleneck.

Nice, your pies are getting better with time, a good way of practicing spinning the dough is to attempt with a wet/damp rag, it'll behave very similarly and with some time you'll be able to refine the shape more easily and faster. Also, a good trick is to get the sauce around half an inch from the edge, and use the cheese to "Lock" it in place.
The ASUS TUF series laptops are extremely easy to repair and the parts are surprisingly affordable, I can replace a screen for about $50. Took me only $12 and about 10 minutes to swap out the old fans for some new high performance ones.

Linux Mint works fine out of the box, nothing needs to be "tweaked" even once.
I haven't encountered this problem except for ubuntu with it's new snaps garbage.
