Both lengthened and widened, .45 is too fat to double stack in the 1911, but .357 is in the 9mm family, so it's easy to double.
that is is either a flavor of .45 or .38 Super, also it's a bit fuzzy, but you can see it listed as .38 Super in the info tag next to it.
