Ex Military type trying to navigate my way through a world I'm not quite sure I actually understand. I've been a lot of places, met lots of people (good and bad). Now working within Crisis Management, Executive Safety, K&R and other general business stuff. Avid gamer, started with a Commodore Vic20. Halo, Mass Effect, 7DTD are favs. I like loads of other geeky stuff.

Remember they are looking for 3 things. Can you do the job, can we trust you, will you fit in. Good luck

Give it time. My mum died suddenly in front of me Dec22. I spent 32mins doing CPR in the dark on my own until the medics rocked up. I didn't get emotional until a couple of days later. There is no "right way" to grieve or deal with grief. Look up the 5 stages of grief. Talk to people, don't be afraid to let it out. Time is a healer. You will be OK. Plenty of folks here will support you too. Just keep talking. You have my best wishes.

25 Yr veteran of a coercive and controlling relationship. Banged out in Jan. Give it time and don't be too harsh on yourself. You'll be OK.

Agree. People know what is right, but lack the courage to act, until they see someone else act. It's a small act of leadership. Good on her.

Go into any kind of detail that might be remotely contentious. Get advice, make them justify the comments with evidence. Then smash them.

In UK most references are bland as poss. Ie. Worked from this date to this date. The possibility of being sued means most HR depts won't 1/2
