I took 2 months in a trail from central California, up the pacific northwest then across to the east side.

I do it all the time. I just don't pick it up at baggage clame. Taxi/tram out to find food/kill time. Return when my next leg or transportation is supposed to arrive and pick my bag up at baggage claim office.
I do it for my SO, but they do not in return. In fact, she gives me side eye when a girl does something "sexy".
In Colombia, those roadside waterfalls double as truck washes, worked by local slums.
