Not saying the community can't take it back, but it's good to know why it's really offensive to a number of trans people.
Basically, the idea was that transwomen were "traps" for cis men to get aroused by, then angry with when they found out.
I'm dating a transwoman who dislikes the term. There's a lot of history with it tied to cis guys murdering them unfortunately.
I sure hope no one discovers that weakness and then smothers me in them. That would be awful.
This is either an incredibly healthy, loving relationship... Or an incredibly spiteful and toxic one. There's no other options.
