Yes. They have dead people's stuff scattered around between the seats and on tables around the laws. You can buy it by going up to the Treasurer's window and paying them for the stuff.

Well, yes, I suppose. If you ever sell anything. I pretty much just hoard.

In my next post should I show off my sterling silver nipple covers? (Yes, not joking)

Ahem, corn on the cob SILVER butt plugs. We are after all *fancy* here.

The little garden hoe I have seen, but I've seen it described as a food pusher for children?

Should be a series of presses, rollers, hand work, and dies. These spoons are most likely from the late 1800s, so it might have been steam driven machinery, but probably just manual cranks and such. Wouldn't be much different today. You may even be able to get brand new spoons just like that, Gorham is still in business in a way. Would have to probably order it from some high end retailer like Tiffany's. Assuming the dies are still around, many of the patterns can be custom made for you today.

It is really wonderful to eat off of. Honestly, it's amazing to me how people just have no idea what it is. I often will even tell people I think its real sterling and they just don't care. Its sad. A big part of why I don't want to part with it is that I find it such a shame to melt it down instead of actually using it for its intended purpose.

I have not looked into that. Honestly I find myself getting tempted to buy expensive silver when I look into such things, for which I have no money. When the kids get big enough that maybe I can do things more time consuming than grabbing silver while buying kids clothes I'll certainly be learning more.

I live in terror that Sreetips wife will move near me and I will never find silver again...

I do not, quick googling seems to indicate it may have been pewter. I've found quite a few baby cups that are similar (and yes I have consumed booze out of), but they don't look like that.

I have not, that's really cool, honestly I am a stay at home parent because my spouse works all the time, so I grab the silver as a by product of trying to save us money buying all the kids clothes and other household items second hand. Despite the volume I'm pretty new to actually learning about silver.

That's a pretty awesome score! Can't complain about that one at all. My biggest scores are probably in Gold, with it's insane value. One day I left a garage sale with a gold Rolex, a fistful of gold bracelets and earrings, and some assorted silver for $7. I even told them I think its all real, but they didn't care.

This is an underappreciated comment.

I have quite a few of those cups actually. This one actually turned out to be easy to track down because Gordon Wesley Fawcett III was unique. Interestingly his family were publishers and they made the Shazam character.

I actually have used the baby spoons for my two kids. Neither of them like plastic so the sterling has worked out beautifully.

I will have to see if I can make that work! Thanks!

Well it's not pure silver, but it is solid in that there is silver all the way through it. I usually say solid to denote that it's an alloy and not a plate. Maybe I learned that wrong, I am after all half corvid grabbing shiny things here.

I think it is. I've found a great deal of baby spoons from nordic countries, but also many from America, and I know its a British Tradition too. I don't know why I find so much nordic silver, but I suspect its just because of the population of my area.

Thank you! That's my favorite thing about posting stuff online, learning from people. I find such a tiny amount of British sterling learning about it has been harder to do as I rarely retain information without holding an object related to that information in my hands.

Oh, there's gold too. I may do a post on that at some point here if you like. Some of the gold stuff is just super neat.

Hard to say, one problem is that a lot of it is weighted, so the inside is filled with resin or concrete, when you take off the sterling you are left with just sheets of sterling, so I would have to actually break a lot of stuff up to get a proper weight and a "value":

You have no idea. The other day I was digging through a bin of purses at the thrift shop and found a silver earring stud, just one of the little tiny gemstone ones. It's as much fun to find a teeny tiny little shiny to me as finding some of the bigger things.

And here's a pair of some of my favorite serving spoons (also Gorham), front and back is just gorgeous. The cost ($4 for the pair) to pleasure derived from using them on holidays is just ridiculous.
