Not nearly as often as they take lives, people don't defend themselves with large weapons. You can still defend yourself with a pistol.
It is going to be deployed at the battle of anchorage and then future space nazi society's will recommissioning it to do their bidding.
If it saves one life it is 100% worth it.
Someone with the intention to kill will look for the "tactical" style and might pass up a walnut "grandpappy's" 22 style weapon, 2/?
Honestly it also has to do with the "aesthetic" because culture and media has made us believe one is a murder devise and the other not, 1/?
