of things in our life. Doesn't mean we're going to try or do all of them...

1: What makes you think they're all pressured. Being exposed to something doesn't mean it was forced upon you. We're exposed to thousand

Of course there are exceptions but as with everything else they're called "exceptions" for a reason.

You're making generalizations. Majority of families and communities couldn't care less and don't force their daughters into anything, (1)

I get the sarcasm but it's not funny. Women should never be blamed for rape regardless of what they believe or how they dress...

Regardless. I'm talking about all people.

So do Muslims... Just cause they want to wear something different doesn't mean they're "oppressed".

That's not why women wear the hijab... Why is it so hard for people to get that they're not doing it for the men? :/

3: do that.

2: not only keep her faith but to cover herself up for it as well. There is a reason. And oppression is not enough to make millions of women

1: Bare in mind she can walk away whenever she wants to but she doesn't. If she was truly oppressed she would have left. Yet she chooses to

opression if the person does something by choice.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1: But trying to stop them from following their faith is also seen as oppression. It's only oppression if the person is a victim, it's not

If she doesn't want to cover that's her thing. But I don't get why she CAN'T be faithful by covering her head. I don't see the issue tbh...

3: in that aspect too. Both sexes are supposed to dress modestly.

2: fitted clothes that cover at least up to their knee. To each their own. It may not seem like much but there are social pressure for men

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1: a woman doesn't "have" to wear anything. there's tons of Muslim women who don't wear hijab and tons of men who don't want to wear loose

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2: When there is SO much to it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1: She's the one wearing it not you so if that's what you think then so be it. But it's not how she sees it. You only see hijab as one thing

People with no faith have the exact same issue. Ideologies come in all forms.

It is no way makes a girl less than a man and is in no way shameful. It's worn as a symbol of her faith. If anything hijab empowers women 5

I say go back and read the posts. Because you still don't seem to understand that hijab has NOTHING to do with inferiority or subordination4

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it. I agree some women are forced and it's very unfortunate because it's not something that's supposed to be forced. As for you second point

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Social pressure or not there are still women who choose not to wear it in those countries. And there are also women who choose to wear (1)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is way better than a child who wants to have a drink because they see their parents doing it. At least hijab brings no harm to the girl.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All children copy what their parents do. Not just Muslim girls. IMO having a girl put on a hijab because she wants to be like her mom (1)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You do realize that hijab is mandatory is TWO out of about 50 Muslim countries right? Everywhere else there is no obligation to wear it.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First of all, covering yourself is has NOTHING to do with shame. Second kids like to copy what adults do. By choice.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No one is forced to wear hijab. So whether a girl wants to wear it or take it off it's her personal choice. It's her decision.

Then all children are oppressed. If you see something and like it because you see the good in it, then I don't see the problem.
