Presumably the school provides Chromebooks or tablets for children to use. All the schools in my part of the US do. It doesn't really cost the school that much money since they can replace all the thick paper text books with a single low end device and a bundle of PDFs.

Why not? I see it in every other sport. Once the game/race/event ends, all the competitors come out onto the field to congratulate the winner and thank everyone else for the competition (or discuss where they are going to meet to fight without cameras watching).
