#44 my grandparents are tremendously terrible people. I believe my mother's fascination with ancestry, hers or others', is in fantasizing what it would be like to have a heritage worthy of pride instead of shame. I use semicolons and em dashes all the time, but seeing as how they're increasingly associated with AI, I'm not surprised younger writers don't use them. I may have to stop using them as well.
