I don't know if it's the case for this person, but I know for a fact twitter gives accounts with high engagement the checkmark for free. You literally are unable to get rid of it in those cases.

Same reason so many Tennis players make weird noises during their swings.

"On the dot" is a play on words (Bindi).

You do also get penalized for paying it early. The more debt you pay every month, the higher your credit score. By paying off that loan, they reduced their monthly debt payments, which reduced their credit score. My credit score went down when I got smarter about my spending a couple years ago. Dropped 20 points because I was spending $1k less a month, never went back up.

Yup. The Fade Demon thing is about a character from Bleach, if you're actually curious.

For anyone curious about the actual reason: They negotiated tax incentives in exchange for locating those offices in specific states / counties / cities, driving income tax and property tax into certain hands. If you can work anywhere, they can't control who collects your income tax.

You need pro to be able to redact. If you actually use the redact tool, it's effectively permanent (may be possible to get around it with some sophisticated forensics, but not easy). If you're properly paranoid, you print out the redacted docs and re-scan them. They very clearly just highlighted the text black instead of using a redact tool. My first suspicion was they did this because they didn't have a pro license, and that seems increasingly likely.

And you're confusing feelings with reality. Look at any metrics. Jake Paul gained a shitload of viewers and followers from that fight even as his ratio of likes to follows plummets.

If that were true, they'd have lost all their followers ages ago. They didn't get to be this successful by looking smart all the time. They got this successful by people like OP spreading their names around saying "hey everyone, look how dumb these guys are" and a small percentage sticking around every time.

#22 I was going to comment about how roundabouts are getting increasingly more common in America, and people are finally getting a handle on them. Then I remembered I had a non-standard roundabout near my house (half of it was 2 lanes, half 1 lane) and they had to completely replace it with a normal one after a few months because people couldn't handle it.

You can try walking the toy behind cover (like in or behind those tubes). My cats often won't go after a toy in the open, but if it looks like it's trying to hide they'll stalk it and pounce. Under a blanket works, too, but don't be surprised if your cats start attacking your toes when you're in bed...

I second that recommendation. 10/10 series. I would recommend Kingfountain (until the time skip) by Jeff Wheeler and The Queen's Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, if you're looking for something somewhat similar. For something different, I'm loving The Magician's Brother series by H.D.A. Roberts (several books out, but still ongoing), everything by Chris Tullbane, and Poor Man's Fight by Elliot Kay.

it was supposed to be a trust fall. The speaker walked away instead of catching her, hence the "you can't trust everybody". You can see the faller step back and catch herself, her on the ground is a gag to pretend she actually fell.

The only thing improper is shortening "about" to "'bout", but that's common slang. Is it "about to be surprising everyone" that bothers you? It's the future progressive tense, which is proper grammar. A common example is "I will be going to the movie tomorrow". Your first language may or may not have that tense.

Today they can still make huge budget movies (think Marvel movies) that can still draw a huge crowd, or small budget movies that don't need much to break even. Before home video was a thing, it was mostly only small budget movies. Big budget movies came about to keep movies relevant in the age of Television, and exploded in the DVD era. Check a list of most expensive movies adjusted for inflation. Nearly the entire list is post-2000.

Fried mac and cheese is the most disappointing thing I've ever eaten. It's just worse than either fried cheese or unfried mac and cheese. The combo gives you a poor cheese to carb ratio.

It just seems far more likely to me that a restaurant owner is trying to bring women in to his establishment than it is a restaurant owner is trying to make the women who spend more money in his establishment feel bad about themselves. Like how the Dr Pepper 10 ad campaign ("it's not for women!") was the result of a study that found way more women drink Diet Dr Pepper than men and an attempt to reach a different demographic, but comes across as horribly sexist.

I mean, you could say the same about a popsicle. Or bone marrow. Or chewing gum. Or Fun Dip. Hell, it's not even that different than a chicken wing. I guess I've just had plenty of appetizers that were more about flavor than substance, so taking that a step further doesn't strike me as odd.

I mean, I'm a dude, but I kinda like the idea. It's designed as a snack, not a meal replacement. Doesn't seem fundamentally different to me than low calorie popcorn or zero calorie soda or whatever. Could make a great appetizer without filling you up before the meal. I'd just be worried that there's a ton of sodium or something on them so they're not quite as guilt-free as they seem. Or, of course, people actually trying to use them to skip meals.

Fittingly, this is not a Mark Twain quote.

I worked at one, you didn't miss out. Most of the stuff I witnessed was management screwing over employees or employees screwing over each other, but most of the sales people at my location had minimal expertise. They would just try to get you to buy a router because routers had high markups (more commission).

IMO the interesting parts are the racial undercurrents. Drake has had a history of overreacting to criticism, likely stemming from his inability to fit in with rap culture due to being raised in Canada by a white mother. Drake's argument is indeed that he's the best rapper and deserves more accolades from his peers, but Kendrick argues Drake is using the black community for monetary gain rather than trying to support them. Also he's a pedophile.

Did you see my other comment? I specifically called out Tesla as the reason my comment isn't always true lmao.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I say largely because sometimes speculation goes wild. Tesla stock shot up years ago with no basis in reality, as an example.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's largely not true. Generally speaking, the value of a stock is based on the current value of all future dividends that stock provides. If a stock does not currently provide dividends, it's based on the expectation that that will change in the future. Even if a company declares they will never provide dividends (ie Google), it's based on the value of liquidating the entire company. You could argue these values are "perceived", but they're not just randomly made up, they're real value.

it's a celery stick with a line of peanut butter on top, and a line of raisins on the peanut butter. The result looks like a line of ants on a log.

Took me a few weeks to not feel like garbage, though I still get hungry. Granted, I'm eating a lot less and feeling less hungry. What helped me early on was all those snacks people make for kids to get them to eat something healthy. Apples with peanut butter, ants on a log, that kind of thing.

Second huge advantage: I have to imagine there's WAY less upkeep. I have a real pinball machine, and that damn thing breaks all the time.
