I waited until Obama was president to have my first baby, when I was 37. I never thought society would be stable enough for me to be a mom. I had another one before Trump’s full horror was realized, and now I’m like “noooooo, I waited so long to do this responsibly and now tons of Republicans are saying my wife and I, as gays and one of us being trans, are what’s wrong with America? Well, us and all those dastardly refugees from Venezuela. Yep. We ruined it all.
As a gay mom, I’m here to tell you that you’re also tired. Maybe as tired as I am. Maybe more, depending on your life. And this is a nightmare dystopia I thought I got spit on enough in the 90’s to let me skip this level of daily terror. But no. Being LGBT+ in this country is straight up exhausting without kids in the mix. What was I thinking?
This is so unfair. *hug* You will get through but healing is not linear, neither is grief. It’s ok to have bad days, even when you “should” be over it - as if we ever are over it. Much love.
