True, while we have maga, we also have decent folk that would do the right thing, there would have to be stipulations. As the public at large are a chaotic mix of varying degrees of decent, (I can only speak for the US...) so there would have to be a filtering process as it were. I mean we have to start looking for alternatives to the current political conventions as we're nearing a breaking point for our species. But I'll leave it at that, as I can go on endlessly about this subject. Cheers!

Shit, it looks like I need to do some serious catching up! I wish they taught actual *world* history, all we had were "western civ" material. As the East is vastly different, yet all the same when it comes to our leaders. We give them too much power over our lives. But I have a suggestion of sorts; allow the citizens to vote on the laws and policies affecting our (And by *our, I mean humanity.) lives, that would at least be a step in the right direction...
I admittedly don't know much about the dark side of Buddhism. But I do know that as far as prolific violence and corruption, the big three are at the top of the list. Plus, I don't have enough info on Taoism/Shintoism and the like, so I can only comment on what I am familiar with.I am however, always open to new information.
Good on you, that is the hardest and most important step, is to be brutally honest with yourself! I'm glad that you've beaten that bastard, I was lucky, as I abused alcohol as well in my youth. Ironically after starting at 17, I stopped at 21 due to the fact that the buzz no longer felt good. In fact, whenever I would get drunk the buzz itself felt like a hangover, so, I quit. Also, having seen people destroyed by it was enough to deter me further!

And the native Africans were far less than equal, it was an ugly and brutal time for native Africans.
