If not doing pressure - ingress of moisture is a minor concern. I'd also add a silica gel pack. Water will float, so place at top of fluid.

Contamination is usually from solder and plasticizer in the wire sleeves. A simple active carbon bag does a good job of soaking those up.

The other answers are correct - the bubbles are from heat sources causing boiling. The vapor is condensed back to a liquid at the top.

PFCs won't degrade under these conditions, but the surface tension is so low that leaks are inevitable. Depends on how well sealed it is.
