It's not how tariffs work... the money doesn't go in some coffer. it's incorporated into the price of the goods making foreign produced goods more expensive in an attempt to get people to buy more internal or locally produced goods - that's all. Problem is, the US manufacturing is decades behind as we've outsourced so much of it and became a service based economy. So we can't meet demand, meaning we all just buy higher priced foreign goods.

I'm all for alternative energy, but the environmental and human cost to mine all the metals to make they batteries, the added weight, and the impact of providing the energy to recharge that - - you can't tell me it's better for the environment than a diesel motor. Not to mention all the space the batteries take up that could be used to expand the car and passenger capacity...

The issue is it's become too powerful a blackmail tool at this point. Even those not in it no longer want it released because they've seen it and can use it as leverage against those that are. So the guilty want it to stay under wraps, and the "innocent" (should say un-named) want to weaponize the threat of releasing it. Because everyone running our Gov't and in Corpo leadership positions are self-centered egotistical power and money hungry sociopathic douchebags.
