I assure you this has been going on far longer than Trump getting into office. It is the nature of social media and has been since the days of MySpace. The only difference is now it's normalized to be terminally online. Back in those days, spending 16 hours a day in front of a screen wasn't a typical thing.

I should point out that there's also still a lot of straight up lying as far as what politics we see on Imgur. I won't specify what because I don't care what today's hot topic is and I am not necessarily talking about it. My point is, stop getting news from Imgur, TikTok, Reddit, etc. At least if American social media causes violence on American soil, they can get held accountable. Can't do that with Chinese companies.
It's mainly bots. The CCP especially is the worst offender. Nobody here seems to realize that, but every political post that reaches the front page was pushed there by someone with an agenda.
People (the CCP mainly) use Imgur as a platform to promote both propaganda and volatile things that aren't necessarily lying but will piss people off in large numbers. They already own Reddit, and we know how closely Reddit and Imgur is tied. Politics aren't getting blocked, nor will it be made convenient. The CCP wants politics on this platform in order to get people angry, factually or not.
If you vote pure blue, you're an idiot. If you vote pure red, you're still an idiot. Pick your candidates based on which ones are the most genuine and actually responsive to constituents trying to talk to them. Try emailing them, or calling them, and see who you get actual replies from and who replies be it staff or the actual lawmakers. Stop voting in losers just because they're your party. That's why everything is fucked.
You literally just agreed with my point that Portugal did way more than just say "lol drugs are legal now, I'm sure it'll work out". Like if you're gonna spend 2 to 4+ years in school racking up stupid amounts of debt, spending it on let's say a creative writing degree turns into this awful waste of time. That's what I was doing before I dropped out and went to do something else once I had a real choice to do so.
I mean that is definitely true, but it really seems to be throwing away a lot of potential. I ended up in a career that has nothing to do with my degree but still make more money with no experience than my former classmates who all went to college and got "better" (than associates) degrees than me. The whole system is screwed up in ways that 500 characters does not allow me to elaborate. I make the bulk of my money in ways that make no sense for what I was raised to believe.
Life and existence is meaningless. The key is knowing you can create your own, and anyone who says otherwise can get fucked.
Needless to say I had zero time to consider what direction I wanted to take in life, and being naive as I was thought "Uhhhh well I'm good at writing, maybe I can make a degree and career of that" HAHAHAHA YEAH NO. Programming was attempt #2
