She was fired, and they wrote her character off. She was liked, and would definitely have come back in season 3 otherwise

The time from the council until the destruction is about 6 months. For months, Frodo and Legolas was part of the fellowship. It is reasonable to assume that they introduce themselves during that time, or in some other way learn their names. But movie logic-wise, Frodo knows Legolas' name from the council. I am disputing the film theory.
In movie FotR, Legolas is introduced as "Legolas from the woodland realm" at the council of Elrond. So clearly Frodo knows his name
