Robots would just build other robots for servants, the amount of time to get a human to an age where it is useful as a servant takes too long.
After two decades I suspect the die hard fans will be disappointed no matter what they put out. Will it interest new viewers? I feel too much time has passed and recapturing the spirit of the original would be difficult at best. Animation doesn't help matters a whole lot here either, but we'll see how it pans out. Twin Peaks tried to do this to middling results other than that one episode that made me really want to get my hands on some mushrooms and re-watch it whilst tripping.
