I'm not sure how this is any better than just a clear plastic tub? The tub would be way easier to get the cat in and out, plus some of them have latches for the lid.
Ball pythons do like it warmer, but there are species whose temperature ranges go slightly lower. Rosey boas come to mind, but I'd have to look up their exact temps.But also, you just need thermostat-controlled heating elements placed strategically in the enclosure. If the rest of your house is cold, you just have to be mindful of how long you handle them outside of their enclosures away from their heat.
It's a ball python. They ball up, even when they're warm. This snake is fine. Probably was just picked up out of its enclosure and needs a minute to realize what just happened and that it wasn't just picked up by a predator and is safe. In my experience handling ball pythons, this one will relax soon and start noodling about normally.
