This is something that doesn't get talked about enough. I'm a very thin person due to a medical condition, and people's reactions to my appearance differ GREATLY depending on their ethnic/cultural background. To preface, I live in the U.S..White women here LOVE to tell me how good I look, how jealous they are that I'm this thin without dieting, or an intense workout regime. The hispanic, black, and latina women? Pure shock and concern and an IMMEDIATE recognition that my weight is unhealthy.
#13 My first date with my boyfriend was at a waffle house at around 4 in the morning... and it was GREAT. As a female, this list is BS lol.
I read that as 'Satan lurking behind the moon' and had so many questions. Then I realized I'm a dyslexic idiot.
I also had an abortion, somewhat similar circumstances. I'm here if you want to talk or have any questions! Even if you just need someone to listen while you get everything off your chest. I want to be there for you because nobody was there for me when I went through this, and NO ONE should go through this alone.
Millennial here, and I 100% agree. If I pay for something that should be IT. I give you money, you provide a service, end of transaction, good bye. I refuse to buy digital copies of ANYTHING, I refuse to tip at non-sit down restaurants, and I refuse to subscribe to any service that requires me to watch ads.
Also bipolar, I get it. Even when I'm on my meds I have days where I just feel... off? Crazy? Not normal? Hard to put into words. Meds help but it's not a cure all, and I wish more people understood that. Just because I'm medicated doesn't mean I'm 100% normal and functional like regular people.
Gloth Cowns was what I read in my head lol. What form of dyslexia is that, because mixing entire words together is what my brain lives for 🤣
My cat does this with the shower curtain, which is conveniently located within swiping distance of the toilet... except she's invisible when smashed between the curtain and the tub. Many frightened poops have been had on this toilet. My life flashes before my eyes every time, only to be brought back to reality by the kiss of poseidon. Such is life, when living with house panthers.
Tell*, not yell. Calm down, I'm not yelling, you're yelling...
Some of my favorite YouTubers are folks who make a living off of finding and culling these invasive species! Some of the monster sized snakes and turtles they find out there are the stuff of nightmares I yell ya. Now THAT'S a job I'd pay to watch Mike Rowe do bahaha. Talk about a Dirty Job.
Weeks? Try MONTHS. An old roommate and I had a massive (10ft+) red tailed boa, and when we were able to find it huge rabbits instead of feeder rats, she would refuse food for up to 2-3 months. She knew she had enough energy left in her system to function without eating more. Depending on the species, snakes have INCREDIBLY adaptive metabolisms! But those giant smelly poops, oof. Fuck, I love reptiles though. Amazing creatures through and through.
I've been searching for decades for shows that capture Nausicaa's vibes and message... they are surprisingly few and far between! If you have any recommendations, then toss some my way please :)
THIS. Mall arcades now are more like Chucky-Cheese than real arcades. They are geared towards young kids, and all the "violent" games like street fighter have disappeared. I don't want to play whack-a-mole damnit, I want to slay zombies and shoot monsters with fake guns >:( And play DDR again! Don't even get me started on the prizes from ticket exchange. Screw your bluetooth speakers and iphones, where are my Lego sets?!
And now local malls are full of over-priced stores, arcades geared towards chucky-cheese aged kids, too many damn perfume kiosks, and sub-par food courts. Malls used to be places of social gathering, bring THAT vibe back instead of another friggin Bath and Bodyworks store, smh. And where the hell did all those cool gift shops with giant Buddhas and samurai swords go?! Santa never did bring me that 3x4ft stone dragon statue I asked for 20 years ago...
In case anyone was wondering which video this came from... I present to you: Starving CAT, Contemplating Murder
#29 why is there a painting of my cat here...
Grant Imahara was a national damn treasure and the world is worse off without him in it, dangit
Don't get me wrong... it still tasted like ass 10 years ago. But it was CHEAP ass damnit 🤣
I think a lot of it plays back to McDonald's of the past. In my early 20's I could fill me AND my little brother's stomachs for under $15. Now $15 covers a single combo and there's somehow LESS food on my tray after forking over triple the cash. I used to eat McD's 3-4 times a week out of necessity (it WAS cheaperto buy fastfood when you consider we were living in my car with no way to cook our meals besides setting food on the dash to warm).
To those who love a good historical romance manga, you gotta check out Anatolia Story! (AKA Red River). It's semi-historically accurate (there are definitely a number of creative liberties, as well as some minor magic/time travel elements, but all done pretty tastefully). It's got action, romance, political intrigue, mystery, the whole 9 yards. Can't recommend it enough. The female lead is AMAZING, and the character growth for ALL characters is fantastic.
Don't worry friend, it was only last month.... 🫡
I live about 40 minutes north of phoenix... No, I am not a smart person. The last few years have been getting progressively hotter and hotter though, and I live OUTSIDE of that steel and concrete dungeon. Can not imagine what it would be like to live within city limits 😬
This is what capitalism does to the elderly. It tosses them in homes and takes advantage of the young starry-eyed caregivers before they realize what a hot mess the american retirement home system is. I can honestly say that I have given up my prime years so that my patients can enjoy the rest of theirs. And that isn't fair to either party.
If there was more employee protection against sexual and physical abuse, better pay, enough staff for all the patients, real days off, vacation time, burnout prevention plans, BENEFITS, or literally any kind of help from employers I can guarantee abuse and neglect rates would plummet. At the end of my 3rd 24hr shift of the week, please understand that I am GOING to forget things, I am GOING to mess up a transfer because I'm exhausted, and I am GOING to be working far below my 100% effort.
I've worked in retirement homes for a decade... We do the best we can but EVERYWHERE is short staffed. That's because most of us only make a few bucks above minimum wage while we have literal lives in our hands. The amount of abuse and stress we deal with insane, and to be told we're only worth $15 an hour now? Yeah, a lot of people quit within a year of this career. Again, we do our best with what we have but... we don't have much. We are all experiencing burnout one way or the other.
Yup. My old church in Colorado was full of some of the best people I've ever met... granted, our Sunday services mostly involved us (around 20 people) sitting outside and smoking weed while our pastor encouraged us to talk about hardships and struggles. Then he would artfully weave some Bible teachings into real world advice and guidance. There was no judgement, no hate, just people getting together to help each other and our community. Real Christians and churches spread love, not hate.
But he never flew off. He always came back in if I pretended to shut the door and leave him. He knew where home was, and obviously knew that he preferred home to permanent life in the great outdoors. Birds are more difficult to own responsibly and have higher/more specific needs than pets like cats or dogs, but to say that to own a bird you must 'hobble' it is infactual and damaging to proper bird owners. My bird was just a needier, louder dog in all honesty.
Some bird owners choose to clip their wings to prevent anything more than short bursts of flight or gliding. I think that's what they meant? But either way, I owned an unclipped yellow naped amazon and we frequently spent time outside together. He would occasionally be hard to get back inside, in the same way dogs lay down on the way home to prevent an end to their walk.
Good god I love these pens! I use them for everything. Work, art, grocery lists... you name it. Nothing brings me joy like a smoooooth pen.
It's a show that whether you loved it or hated it, it'll stick with you for a while simply because of how dark and intense it was.
