only a true artist would be so riddled with self doubt and imposter syndrome. art is not a competition, it is about expression. you just didn't have the right audience. you really don't think there are people in the 8 billion on this earth that wouldn't go crazy for your work? hell even furry porn has a fan base. firstly you should be doing art because you enjoy it, secondly, the moment you find your fan base you'll realise that your work was never lacking in quality or original ideas.
when i became a father i was determined not to be a deadbeat dad, i worked my ass off doing everything to give my wife the maximum freedom to recover. people kept telling me (like you just did) that i needed to do more, so i pushed myself more and more. in the end i destroyed myself, until i literally couldn't do anything. luckily my wife helped me rather than complain that i stopped doing things. so maybe things would be better if we didn't automatically assume fathers are going to fail?
