I think what you’re saying is true but I don’t know if gul dukat becoming the bajoran antichrist is a good example of it. Becoming a demon empowered evil guy doesnt have the nuance of his previous characterization. Cuz he didn’t think of it as becoming a monster when he did things a normal cardassian would do. That was just his cultural baseline and he saw himself as being very progressive/soft when he could be. But in the last season he lost that so they could make him the big bad for the end
Really don’t like what later seasons did with gul dukat. He was such an interesting character early on. By cardassian norms at that time he was a liberal hippy, but an authoritarian fascist by our (starfleet) standards. So the way he saw himself and wanted to be seen was at stark odds with how he was seen by the bajorans/starfleet. Made for such an interesting and fun character. Then they did away with all that
I recognize that they are very attractive women wearing skimpy costumes, but my autistic ass can’t get past being freaked out by the face paint/heavy makeup. Insert squidwardWatchingSpongebobPatrickHavingFunOutside.png
I think what people mean when they say it’s selling your body is that you are selling physical intimacy that they usually reserve for their romantic partner. They think of sex as the highest form of sexual/romantic intimacy. They feel that it lowers the worth of that person as a romantic partner. To them, since anyone could pay to have sex with that person, sex with that person is romantically hollow and doesn’t validate their feelings. Argue against what they mean. Don’t focus on the wording.
