And normally you only tape 3 sides down but in irl panic you won't remember so just tape the shit out of it, nothing gets in or out of the patch you make and you just bought them some time until the medics can get to them.

Triage is the preliminary assessment of pts to determine severity, sick-not sick, dead-not dead and who's going to get dead the quickest so they receive care first and then you move on to the next pt. Treatment is what you do for gee-es-dubyas and you are far better off tying a shirt around an appendage or simply putting as much pressure as you can with that shirt balled up under your hands than you are stuffing tampons in the wound.
The tire blew out because it wasn't large enough for the weight of the trailer and any speed > then 15mph. It looks like a lil' farm trailer you'd tote around the property. And maybe to OP's defense, while not entirely legal, where I grew up you'd see this somewhat often. Usually pulled by a lawn mower or small tractor and trolling down the shoulder. I used to ride our sit on mower (think King of the Hill Mason 1500) down to the gas station and back to fill it up (in a town of 25k'ish).
