Very easy to make your own sanding jigs, but if you did get a tool, I'd go with an orbital sander.

And clamps yes. Pipe clamps for larger projects and bar clamps for everything else.

Thank you! The most basic setup would be chop saw, table saw, and drill. Quite a lot you can do with those basic tools.
