So vpns hide what you are doing but not the fact that you are using a VPN
So the network request goes to the VPN endpoint (ip address) and your vpn makes the request for you, then delivers the results back to you.
1) Because the traffic doesn't just shoot out to space and magically find it's location first. It has to go through your VPN provider.
