I see it more as ideological than technical. I find that in general, people tend to be a little too sure of themselves, myself included 1/2

Sure, without proof it's just speculation either way :) I guess my reaction was more towards people getting worked up over stuff like... 1/2

The amount of upset people not realizing this is most likely a fake "funny" convo is surprising.

Vader literally means "father" in Dutch, so I think he had a clue...

Ah yes, since "real" goths only come from Gothland, right? No offense, but your comparison is hardly sensical either.

Although not hard SF, I found The Quantum Thief trilogy very intriguing, and the author (Hannu Rajaniemi) has a PhD in mathematical physics.

Still, the execution is "controversial", and I understand if and why people dislike it. To me it's powerful even with its obvious flaws. 2/2

To my understanding all the major characters are depicted to suffer from some form of psychological disorder, and that's one of the main 1/

Indeed, especially considering the show heavily infers that besides abandonment issues, he also suffers from depression.

Often true, but I'd say Pewdiepie's actually not that bad. It seems to me that many people judge him based on very superficial knowledge.

Now there's a movie adaptation I'd watch.

A movie called The Fountain (Darren Aronofsky). A favourite of mine despite being a commercial flop.

I'm late for the party, but how about: "Mountains tap for red..."

Well, that was kinda my point: I don't, which is why I also don't want to make an uninformed judgement based on superficial notions.

I always wonder why so many people believe other animals "should want" exactly the same things from life as humans. We're different species!

How you all laughing at these don't consider this a form of cyberbullying is beyond me.

Reasonable message, wrong meme. The annoyed Picard would have been spot on.

It's not the word but the context. Anything can become an insult if enough people use it in an insulting way.

...need to be tolerated or accepted, but without understanding the counter-reactions are usually needlessly polarized and aggravated.

Bad memeing aside, it makes me sad when people say or imply that they don't want to even try to understand something. Everything does not...

It's actually you experiencing the thing for the first time but your brain just randomly places it into long-term memory due to a fuck-up.
