Years of parents & school counselors telling us "you gotta go to college to get a good job" plus the financial ignorance of 18 year old kids
As a parent, I can tell you our natural inclination is to bring our kids along because it's extra work to organize a sitter. Hell, we WANT it to be just two adults! We WANT that break from parenting! But you need to give us a specific reason, so we can justify the imposition of sitting. Maybe make a plan to get a drink together instead of hanging at someone's house, or some other clear adult-only activity
