Yeah my German isn’t great but I found that they were genuinely really pleased that you tried, even if they switched to English. A couple even complimented my pronunciation, even though I know it was trash, and they’re not known for being generous with compliments they don’t mean lol
We had an African Grey when I was a kid, and he would do car alarms, one-sided phone convos, and sing happy birthday. Annoying, but so sweet lol

Yeah same, my dad had his green card for 50 years, served in the Air Force, and worked for a state government. But If he was still alive, I’m sure we’d be panicking trying to make sure he wasn’t about to be deported back to a place he had never truly lived.
My dad was still a green card holder after 50 years because he said the test was “fucking stupid”. But he passed in 2007, so I’m sure things were different then. If he was still alive I’m sure we’d be panicking and trying to make sure he wasn’t about to get detained or deported. Fuck this timeline.
Check r/IrishCitizenship. The German one has been SUPER helpful for me in figuring out the ancestry documentation needed, how to find it, how to apply etc, so I would definitely say to check the Irish one!
Check r/IrishCitizenship! The German one has been super helpful for me to figure out the steps and documents needed for me to apply for my German passport through Citizenship by Descent, so I would highly recommend checking the Irish one.
Yeah I’m well aware lol. I’ve applied for almost 300 jobs over 2 years, and had HR friends help with my resume and applications and stuff, so I know I’m not just doing it wrong. It’s just rough out there right now and I work in an area where remote work is my only real option. I just had to turn down a job offer because they weren’t flexible on their remote policy and the commute was almost 4 hours round trip 😔
Oof, number 5. My Sunday scaries include desperately brainstorming ways to get out of going, and then holding back tears as I inevitably drive into the office the next day. And number 7 lol my toxic boss banned any team building (even free activities) unless there’s already a problem among the team. At that point it’s conflict resolution…

Who the fuck is paying $175 for a manicure? That’s insane
Those dimpled glass ones popular at Oktoberfest are called “Maßkrug” or often just “Maß” or “Mass” when ordering (even though I think that technically refers to the volume of beer, but I could be wrong, my German isn’t great) :)

We held a treat in front of my dog’s nose thinking she’d smell it and wake up like with bacon in cartoons. She didn’t notice, so we started sticking treats up inside her jowls and made it to something like 12 before she woke up. Somehow, she still didn’t notice, so she got off the couch to shake off and sent treats flying everywhere. She was SO confused but also lost her mind with excitement lol. 10/10 definitely recommend trying with your pets.
My partner doesn’t like me taking stimulants so I can function as a baseline normal human being, but then asks if he can have them to take recreationally.
