There are absolutely times he says things just to troll the media and democrats. This is not one of those times.
Rather than forcing them underground into an echo chamber, debate them if they're willing, and show them their hate won't be allowed.
By responding to a simple hand gesture with violence, you are, in that guy's mind, legitimizing his view. It's actually making it worse.
Push them further underground so they can become even more extreme and cause horrific acts of mass casualty-inducing violence. Good plan.
