Damn cage looks to be one of those wire cages you pickup in petco/persmart. And the bedding is just super sad. Everything tells me that the owner did ZERO googling
But honestly, if you were a kid and your dad was scaring away a bear, you'd want to come out and see it too. Still a bad idea, but understandable.

The real test is when the other side is mostly empty, as in this video. Here on the subway systems in NYC, once a flood of people leave a crowded train, we'll use both sides of the staircase.

Is it just me, or does the "purring" seem fake? Can a cat still purr while meowing?

"Can you here me?" Honestly, this sounds like a way to invite someone over.
This is one thing I noticed when I was accompanying someone in the ER : for you, it's a significant & possibly life changing event, but for the staff it's just another day at work.
