I expect there's probably been a change in the algorithm to keep the front page a bit fresher. 'Most Viral' used to end up quite stagnant, which left casual users who don't trawl usersub bouncing off because they'd just see the same few posts over and over. So yes, those posts would reach astronomic levels of upvotes, but it doesn't encourage people to browse. A narrower time window and a lower upvote threshhold makes sense.

I mean, it kinda looks like it's a couple of floors up, so I imagine there's not much risk to wildlife, or of the cat getting diseases or predated...
