As a philosophy inclined person, this is a catchy phrase but not correct. If I buy a ps1 game but can't transfer it to every console there after, then copying it for future use isn't theft. Its kind of correct in spirit but the premises don't link. If I pay for the right to use something, and my use platform isn't available anymore, then rebuilding that function to use the thing I could use but no longer can, is not theft - it is likely less catchy but makes more sense
