Oh I don’t disagree that it’s wildly fucked up. But this sort of fuckery happens all over the place.
There are so many falsehoods that exist in history because of this. Are they true? Maybe not wholly. Do they simplify things? Yes.
Much of history that folks get taught isn’t as simple as “Nero was a bad guy,” but because that’s easier to communicate, that gets taught.
The problem with history is that it is always complicated, no matter where you are in time or location. So you have to simplify it down.
But at any rate, working there taught me how to word things in a way that people can understand, so doing videos could be cool
Genuinely, I’ve thought about making videos before. Fun fact! I used to work a very famous museum in Plymouth. They suck!
I guess my point is that freedom was never the goal of the pilgrims, so we’ve been fucked from the start
gets taught in schools after the Civil War, where America needed a nice, Christian, Northern origin story to unify it.
especially Catholics and the Church of England. Also, the Pilgrims aren’t tied directly to the foundation of the USA! That’s just what (3/?)
for freedom to practice THEIR religion, which is a very different thing. They didn’t really tolerate even other sects of Christianity, (2/?)

I would argue that a petticoat, especially the outside one, doesn't count as underwear. 4 layers of undergarments is just incorrect.
