I don't understand. What about the piece was not actively created? I mixed paints, put them onto the panel in a way that I liked, and let it dry.
Yes, this painting involved masking tape. I don’t recommend using tape if it’s an MDF panel because it tends to take paint with it, like what happened with this piece. I had to repaint the black bars because of that.
I did some bulk orders through Wallack's, though there are production issues in Canada so I'm going to run out of fresh panels soon. I do also have a fair number of pieces that I'm sort of unhappy with and am planning on painting over.

No this is a new one. The "Q-tips" are done with a paint knife

The thick smears of copper and gold were made with a roundish paint knife, and the red lines were made with the edge of a straight paint knife. The background red-orange-yellow-green was made with spray bottles of watered down acrylic paints.
