Some drywall, some partitioning, some creative painting and a bit of faux exposed wood framing and voila! Chateau du basement.
Fly to Romania/Turkey, 2k ticket and 1k living exp/vacation plus 1-2k teeth fixin. 5k tops.
Marketing, transport, distribution, availability, demand. All of these factor into cost. This is my only point.
Could you look at the origin of the goods you purchased? I wager most of these came from foreign sources. First sign these are overpriced.
Forgive me, i am certain these are not generic. For the corn product, for example, i am certain packaging/transport are more than product.
I bet you can use your noggin and easily get this down to 25$ and spend the rest on imported beers or something stupid like bills.

Ice cream - keep that brand as a treat, good ice cream is hard to find and you remember the last thing you ate. Local meats are fresher too
SEASONAL (CANNED) fruit. Local grains/flour and also look into baking stuff tortilla chips r easy. Find your farmers’ market too for fresh.

Purchase manager: you buy imported/out of season goods. Peaches? Mex. Corn products? Fresh herbs? Specialty cheese? Deluxe pack goods? 1/2
Translator issue? there’s two different words in my lang for “killed” but in error one comes out in engl as “murdered” when its contextual

I met some ignorant but good people. Good tradesmen but never met a gay person, dont know a lick about anything other than carpentry or cars
