I cried real hard, but I am glad he died in peace, with someone who loved and cared for him. He wasn't afraid, he didn't fall prey to a dog or bird, nor a car on some shitty street. just resting on my arm, feeling me pet him, talk to him, and he went to sleep. I'll plant some small flowers on his grave today. I hope they bloom.
It kills me double because he came to me for help and he died two hours later. I feel awful, but the situation was impossible! I don't have that kind of money, and his FIV situation made it so I couldn't amputate and adopt him formally. I couldn't bring him inside with my other cats.Cats do not belong outdoors. He broke his leg badly, limped into my garage as he normally does. I checked his paws for stickers, saw a bulge, knew it was broke. Took him to the vet, x-rays confirmed a BAD break. Options were do nothing, hope it heals ok, do biweekly splints at 120$ each twice a week plus sedatives, amputate, or try a specialist surgeon for about $3k. I would have done it all, brought him inside for good, but he tested positive for FIV. I couldn't bring him in around my other cats. A no win loose loose sitch
