They used the partially transformed Transformers figure Shockwave as those sci-fi objects. Look at Shockwaves arms, notice the little cable, compare that to the two prongs in each instance.

Well uh.. I dont' know any of those bands haha. Tyr is a folky metal band, the doubled guitars and the guitar sound is really the only connection =)Dool is more of a darkish rock band. If you want suggestions, try Konning Hans for Tyr and Golden Serpents for Dool.Raven had another band before Dool called Elle Bandita, but I don't really know much about that.

At a later point in the movie it is revealed that Ash is an android (robot) sent by the company to ensure the Alien is brought back, at the expense of everyone else (bad). His equivalent of blood is white. (milk blood)
