Does it really make lives better to not have a good party every now and then. Imo it does good to celebrate stuff.
Maybe unpopular opinion but people should be allowed to throw however grand wedding they want. As long as they use their own money and such.
The problem overall is that we like to see inventions and science as a superhero story of one person when it really is a collaboration of so many people. Turing for an example was a mathematician but not en engineer at all. There were 3000 people in Bletchley park that broke Enigma. Imitation game the movie makes it seem like it was Turing and mayyybe like 3 other people.
