I could also see that he would replace me as soon as he could for someone who would accept less. This isn't uncommon, but it bugs me.
I saw him seeing he needed me, I saw him calculating, and then he made me a verbal offer with the stipulation that I don't tell anyone.
Had an interview yesterday where we got to the wage question. I told him my requirements and saw the whole scenario play out in his eyes.

So it makes me hopeful on some level to see that there are still good people out there taking care of their loved ones through the bad times
