tanto, shoto, and daito only describe blade length, many knives and swords fall into each catagory. katana and wakizashi are specific swords

you're thinking of a bokken. tanto, shoto, and daito are just different size blades: 1ft, between 1ft and 2ft, and 2ft or more respectively
