Well yeah, but not always intentionally. It’s a perverse side-effect of inflation across the board and working with a margin. If they take 25% profit on an article they buy for 10$, they sel it for 12.5$, earning 2,5$. If they then have to buy said article for 12$, the 25% margin takes the salesprice to 15$, earning them 3$, ergo 20% more profit than before. All these margins across the chain just compound and make prices go up faster.

Just go with 10% on all income up to 25k total per year, 20% on the next 25k and so on. Strongest shoulders can carry the heaviest burden.
