Insurance doesn't do everything, but it does cover *most* things. Especially fires.
Basically if it's sudden & accidental, it's covered, but all policies have some stuff that's excluded, but always spelled out.
Insurance agent here. It would definitely be covered barring some wild state law. Fire/explosion are basics of coverage.

They don't just go handing out money willy nilly. That's how you go bankrupt.
After that it's their own insurance. Injury is separate from property damage, so they might be alright. It's not hassle, it's due diligence
It goes in the order of things he hit until his limit of insurance runs out. If the camper was 5th, they better hope its a huge limit
