Standing and bent over, that is a very odd position to die in. Sorry for your loss OP.

I agree, I don’t know if it would have mattered though.

As an elder millennial I knew about all of these except 2,3, and 5.

issue that ultimately benefits the people. Maybe that’s where we agree- I would not be in support of providing MTG with any DNC finances or other resources and would believe that would hurt the people- unless she drastically reformed her views based on a series of votes and actions. 2/2

I guess the part of your post that I take aim with most is- parties don’t/shouldn’t really matter. At best they are a short hand for which politicians we will likely agree with on issues compared to another party, but we should owe them no allegiance. We need positive progressive change for the people- incremental or large strides. If MTG joins the democrats fine, if she joins in a fight against Trump, great. I’ll accept her, Liz Cheney, and anyone else’s support on that issue or any other 1/x

voting the most important thing any of us can do is, if we are able, to find ways to contribute to positive change in the communities we live in and care about. Whether that be through your work, volunteering, and/or donating to causes and organizations that are doing the work. If you are in a position to do so I hope you are working towards change. Good luck to you.

taking on allies on a position by position basis to move us towards progress. Politics is messy, it is a marathon not a sprint, and I don’t for one second entertain that a majority of the electorate will side with my extreme left wing positions on a myriad of issues. But if I have a chance to vote for incremental change when the alternative is decades of backslide I will take incremental change every day of the week. Also, and most importantly, more than talking shit on the internet or even 2

First of all I’m not your bud. And, I appreciate you clarifying about your anti-Jill Stein work- but I will say again your comments here are eerily similar in substance and stance to the purity test Bernie bros that have legit blood on their hands right now. Now, there is a chasm between the Republican Party that even before Trump, really as early as post civil rights act, was comfortable courting fascists and the big tent feckless moderate Democrats. Folks left of center should be comfortable 1

The chasm between you and a clue is shockingly large for how frequently you use both those terms. MTG is a fucking ghoul. If she decides to join the Democratic Party I don’t give a shit. I will gladly welcome her vote on issues I agree with and will gladly call her a ghoul otherwise. Pretty easy.

That’s good enough for me on that one issue and does not speak to my support on any other issue. Something something chasms and clues etc.

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No you’re right, we should only partner with anyone on any issue only if they agree with us on all issues. That is a strategy that, checks notes, does not comport with any effective movement in the history of everything.

The plot is END FACISM. The plot it TRUMP IS LEADING us towards fascism. If MTG or the ghost of Nixon of David Fucking Duke want to join the party to vote Trump out, welcome aboard. As some know it all dipshiy I (don’t actually) know is fond of saying: there is a chasm between partnering with someone on a particular issue and a full fledged support of their hateful rhetoric. Here’s another quote from my dipshit friend: get a clue.

Thanks for sharing that, do you see how your rhetoric mirrors the anti Kamala “leftist” both siders? I don’t give a shit who is in the democratic or any party. I don’t care about parties. I would like for my nieces and nephews to live in a democracy. I am trigger reactive to “leftist” purity test rhetoric because those folks have blood on their hands.

Oh, and thanks for not voting for Kamala by the way, brilliant strategy Tzu.

Anyone can join any party, welcome to America. Raskin has been among the most effective anti-Trumpers in congress. Isn’t it just possible than on overture to MTG could be part of a larger anti-Trump strategy? Like, potentially an impeachment and actual removal of office? The obvious thing is that Trump is the most existential threat to democracy the US has seen in generations, we need him out of power by any (legal) means necessary. I don’t care if his removal is left wing enough for you.

I appreciate that, but you know it’s hard to keep track of where the line is when you keep setting up these purity tests. I mean I thought “leftists” despised the Democratic Party, but now you care about who’s allowed to be in it?

Imagine some scenario where MTG is in the senate and the house has voted to impeach Trump. Are you telling me you wouldn’t accept MTG’s vote to remove Trump from office?

What part of the country do you live in? I’m a community college dean in the Bay Area, I over see a counseling division, not humanities, but I’m happy to share what I know about breaking in to teaching at the college level.

I canvassed for Harris’s in Pennsylvania before the election and I think Trump did win the swing states, albeit not by a lot. His comment thanking Elon helps makes folks on the left suspicious of elections, he made folks on the right suspicious of elections a long time ago. And if everyone is suspicious of elections then we don’t have elections, and thus Trump can cancel elections and/or just announce himself the winner of elections regardless of the outcome.

#1 when I was a kid I would get a $1 food stamp from my mom, back when they were bills that looked like currency, and I would go to the corner store and buy a candy bar for $.50, they would give you your change in change. I would then use those 2 quarters to play the Street Fighter 2 machine. My family was super poor and my house was pretty chaotic so this was a nice simple pleasure.

I’m not sad that a fascist is dead, but I am worried about the backlash. I’m worried that other fascists will use this as a rallying point to further take away rights of people they don’t like. I’m worried other fascists will feel entitled to act violently against people on the left, or people of color, or immigrants, or trans folks, in order to “get even”. I’m not sad I’m worried.
