Had the same thoughts about the shampoo bottle. Used to remind me of the Pillar of Autumn from Halo CE.
The piston was attached to the bolt carrier so it all came out as one, I believe. Nothing in the gas tube when she pulled up.

Google says they're sled dogs. The puppies look more like clumsy little pandas
