Ive worked in restaurants for 25+ years. Its the norm. At least where i am from.
"Therefore rely on the customer"..... every single business anywhere doing anything relies on the customer. Thats where the money comes from. How come no puts up real estate posts? Where its 5% of 800k
Also, when you order anything at a bar, there is zero sense of urgency. You can wait 30 mins if its busy. And if you order food, you take a flag to your table. No one checks in on you. No one cleans up. No one gives a shit. Also, staff work for 3 hour shifts cause owners cant afford to pay any more. So the staff there make much much less, and their restaurants are filthy because they dont employ anyone during downtime to clwan up.
Literally every restaurant in North America does this.
If people stop tipping, every restaurant will be like ordering at subway. Some people like going out for a great service and a great experience. Just stay home.
The only difference it would make to you, is that if it was salary, the price would be up considerably. And if that was the case, the owner would be taking 75% of it.
Just google it. Its common to tip in germany.
