Oh weird. It must be a bug specific to that controller or something. Usually that is exactly what you do to set controllers for P1/P2 etc.
It's not a part of the Bluetooth standard. It's a proprietary protocol and unlike a Switch, a PC/Steamdeck can have more than 4 connected.
No the lights just don't function that way when they're not connected to a Switch.
They're famous, they can always make more money. This is just rich people having to learn to live within their means.
Some graphics cards require two 8-pins for more power. So PSUs usually ship with 6+2 pin cables to accommodate the needs of both 6 and 8 pin
