Yeah why are we have Vietnam era responses to students demanding better from their schools? Why is 37 billion going into police funding? I'd be willing to bet your friend already has some idea, but if you have good communication in your friendship you can approach with "listen, I'm trying to resolve my feelings to figure out if we have chemistry or if I'm just misreading platonic actions from my lack of awareness" something like that.
