...but there is also a defined, correct method of pronunciation. For both standard AND American English.
Speaking purely about the rules of a language, there are many ways that people pronounce a word (dialects, accents, etc)... 1/2
than the other, normally, but for appreciating this poem, only one dialect is "correct". Maybe write an American English version?
As you note, this is based on British English and works best with that pronunciation guide. Not saying one is more correct... 1/2
